Our school covers various fields of education

Economics & management

foci: sports management, international networking, environmental issues

We offer both academic and vocational qualifications. Depending on the school form, the classes and courses are run either on a part-time or full-time basis.
Students come to the BBS OHZ after they have accomplished their secondary education. They may then join our three-year technical college/ vocational college, attend our two-year higher secondary vocational school/ our College of Further Education or our three-year sixth form college in order to prepare for their A-Levels which are prerequisite for starting a degree course at a polytechnic or university. The BBS OHZ has forged long-standing relationships with universities around Osterholz-Scharmbeck, namely the Carl-von-Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, the University of Bremen, the University of Groningen, the FOM University of Applied Sciences. Since 2017, we have been running tablet classes for A-Level students.
Our part-time students’ vocational education is bipartite: While they receive in-house training from the companies they sign contracts with on two to three days a week, they are taught the theoretical background knowledge required in their jobs in school, where they are also prepared for their final vocational examination held by an independent/ external board of examiners.
The BBS OHZ also offers pre-employment training programmes as well as specifically designed classes for disadvantaged or disabled students and students with learning difficulties.
The rooms of the BBS OHZ are located in two buildings. In addition to the regular classrooms, our facilities comprise in various educational full-time programmes. For example:

workshops

for metal engineering, motor vehicles, supply engineering, wood technology and construction technology

Laboratories

for electrical engineering and chemistry

various small student-run companies

e.g. an Internet café, a travel agency, a restaurant

Not least because the BBS OHZ is a certified “Europaschule”, i.e. an educational institution fulfilling a certain set of standards concerning intercultural cooperation and methodological innovation, we encourage our students to broaden their horizons inside and outside the classroom. We are convinced these experiences form a crucial part of our students’ education and will benefit their personal development. This is why we offer a number of extracurricular courses, for instance certified IT courses and certified foreign language courses like the Cambridge Course (BEC), DELF, DELE. At our school it is even possible to get the forklift driver’s license.

Apart from various networking activities with schools and companies in Europe, our students are invited to participate in international work placements, exchanges and excursions (e.g. apprentices are encouraged to work in the Netherlands, Finland, full-time GCE-students have been sent to Worcester, United Kingdom, for a three-week internship for four years; our destinations of the excursions are France, Spain and the UK as well as Ireland).
